OUR HISTORY
Established in 1988, UPTON Dry Cleaners has grown from a small two-person operation to the most trusted dry cleaner on the Gold Coast, now employing over 40 team members. Since 1992, David Walker played a pivotal role in UPTON’s early success, becoming well-known throughout the Gold Coast and nationally within the dry cleaning industry. His dedication laid the foundation for UPTON’s strong reputation and continued growth.
Today, the business is led by one of the most experienced teams in the industry. Chris Mills, our Operations Manager since 1997, is recognised as one of the highest-skilled dry cleaning professionals in Australia. Under his leadership, UPTON has reached new heights, and we are fortunate to have him guiding our team.
Marcus Walker, General Manager since 2006, continues to drive the business forward. Marcus serves as a Director of the Dry Cleaning Institute of Australia (DIA) and was invited to join the board due to his extensive expertise across all aspects of dry cleaning operations. Additionally, he acts as the Honorary Technical Advisor for the DIA, further showcasing his commitment and industry knowledge.
Our state-of-the-art facility on George Street is among the most advanced dry cleaning operations in Australia. We utilise cutting-edge robotic conveyor systems, high-tech pressing equipment, and world-class textile cleaning systems, ensuring we provide our clients with unmatched quality and efficiency.

Our vision for UPTON Dry Cleaners is to continually invest in the best textile cleaning technology available, ensure that all of our team members are trained in their specific areas of expertise, and evaluate our operations to meet high standards in all facets of dry cleaning.
